Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost 04
社畜さんは幼女幽霊に癒されたい 04
Shachiku-san wa Yо̄jo Yuurei ni Iyasaretai Episode 04
Shachiku-san Wants to be Healed by a Little Girl Ghost
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
The kitten Myaako reveals her human form as a bakeneko. She gives Fushihara the bento she made and explains her situation. Fushihara goes to work and puts in another late night. Yuurei-chan makes her usual appearance. However, she becomes jealous of Myaako, who’s been doing stuff to help Fushihara. As such, Fushihara puts Yuurei-chan in charge of making copies, but she ends up making a copy of herself.
Myaako ends up doing the same thing when attempting to show up Yuurei-chan. Fushihara finds the papers with Myaako’s and Yuurei-chan’s likeness. She decides to keep them and wants to make them into t-shirts. The trio finally go home, where Fushihara realizes she didn’t take her other shirt to the cleaner. The next day, Myaako and Yuurei-chan attempt to clean it. However, after failing that, they also accidentally rip off the arm of the shirt.
In desperation, the two head to the shopping district. Myaako has ¥150, but soon discovers it isn’t enough to buy a new shirt. An old lady who runs the shop has the girls come to the back. After chatting with them, she allows them to have a shirt for free. Her husband, who cannot see these spirits, wonders whom his wife made tea for three for.
That night, the girls tell Fushihara the truth. She’s not angry with them. However, she isn’t going to wear a colorful, 1970s shirt to work. Sometime later, the old shopkeeper lady sees a bento left for her and a note of thanks from Yuurei-chan and Myaako. She sees the girls attempting to climb over the back wall. The old lady hopes the girls return again.
Thoughts/Review:
We get more adorableness in Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost 04, with some apparent, short-lived rivalry.
Sibling Rivalry
Now that the kitten Myaako has a humanoid form in Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost 04, it was only natural that Yuurei-chan would get jealous. After all, she was there first for Fushihara. But then things get worse for Yuurei-chan when Myaako becomes more of a perfect assistant for Fushihara’s work. Yet Yuurei-chan gets a chance to shine, only to flub it up with the copier. However, Myaako also flubs up the copier, and thus the reconciliation between the two begins.
Thus we get the cute story of Myaako and Yuurei-chan working together to try to clean one of Fushihara’s work shirts. The predictable “we tore the shirt” moment happens. The decision to buy a new shirt was unexpected for me. However, it was a cute trip for the pair. I liked their interaction with the old lady who apparently runs the clothing shop, possibly with her elderly husband. And then it was time to confess their sin to Fushihara.
By this point, their rivalry is over and the two work as sisterly friends. Each attempts to take responsibly for the tear and absolve the other. I’m really glad this happened ’cause I would have gotten bored with the rivalry stuff pretty quickly.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
Busy weekend, so let me wrap up my review with some final thoughts.
- How did the copier capture the images of Myaako and Yuurei-chan? Yuurei-chan is for sure invisible to most folks. In theory, she shouldn’t have had her image copied.
- On a related topic, how come Myaako was seen by people, but not by the old man? In theory, as a bakeneko, I don’t think she should be seen by most folks. I could be wrong about Japanese folklore. That aside, the old woman saw both, but her husband apparently saw neither.
- As an aside, I’m kinda bummed this series has low interest in the West. Can I blame the crappy English title for the series?
In the end, Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost 04 is another adorable outing. The bakeneko little girl Myaako joins the mix, giving Fushihara two, adorable, young spirit girls to take care of.
